A few comments from past seminar participants:

“This was an incredible series of seminars which put everything together for me. Even as a recent graduate from a vision therapy residency, I still got a much deeper understanding and a very valuable and experienced perspective. Dr. Sanet has a dynamic teaching style that really motivated us to start using the techniques and get results.  I would recommend every doctor go with their therapists.  I didn’t just learn procedures, but truly got a deep understanding of vision therapy.  I now understand why some patients only got mediocre results even though the patient’s data had improved because the therapy had not transferred to real life  I have much better communication with my vision therapist because we are on now the same page.  There is much less time in my office spent covering things with my therapist. I feel much more confident when talking to parents and other professionals.  This seminar has changed my career!”

Tressa Malikkal, O.D.

“My vision therapy staff and I derive great value from the courses that Dr. Sanet provides.  My therapists return from their weekend with you absolutely sky high with enthusiasm and information. Dr. Sanet is the very best at providing this very important information! The information imparted to the staff could not be provided in any better way than this series of vision therapy courses.”

Neil W. Draisin, O.D., FCOVD

"Thank you for doing such an OUTSTANDING job with the vision therapists' workshops. The three vision therapists that I sent to your seminars are so enthusiastic and so much more confident in their abilities! Plus, their enthusiasm for their work is now phenomenal!  The synergy created by the workshop is priceless! It has been by far the best money I have ever spent in staff training!!!!"

Mary Van Hoy, O.D., FCOVD

"Not only the information, but Dr. Sanet’s demeanor and ability to draw out self-discovery by the patient are what I'd like to model in myself as a therapist."
Cindy Akers, Vision Therapist, Office of Mary Van Hoy, O.D., FCOVD

I took Dr. Sanet's seminars along with one of my doctors last year and it was the BEST thing we ever did, not only for ourselves professionally but also to raise the caliber of the care we provide.  I've taken other courses from doctors all over the country, but this was by far the most comprehensive and best of any, hands down.  Perfect balance of theory and technique--not just lists of procedures and how to do them, but the neurology behind the procedures that facilitated my growth as a therapist in a way no other seminar or workshop was able to do. And the extensive manual he provided has been a wonderful resource to use once we returned to our office. As a therapist, I’ve learned the elements of binocular vision in bits and pieces as I needed the information in the therapy room.  This course made better sense than anything has before. I was shocked at basics I never really understood.  No amount of study could have done this because I could never have connected the dots to see the interrelationship of all of the elements.
I especially appreciated the courtesy Dr. Sanet extended the therapists in attendance.  He was able to simultaneously instruct both doctors and therapists, all of whom were coming in with different degrees of experience in the therapy room, and from the first day therapists were treated with the same professionalism and consideration as the doctors. . Sanet respected all participants; I never felt small for asking a “trivial” question.
Please, if you have the opportunity, don't pass up the chance to attend. The cost of the entire course was worth every penny to our practice.”

"I have a much better understanding of the 'big picture,' the proper sequence of activities and how to tailor them to fit each person's needs."

Gail Curtis, COVTT, Office of Carol Scott, O.D., FCOVD

“This is an excellent series of seminars.  Bob Sanet has the gift of teaching.  He is able to take the many ‘threads’ of Behavioral Optometry and weave them together.  We had just enough theory to understand the ‘why’ of therapy and plenty of techniques to show the ‘how.’ These courses are incredibly beneficial both for optometrists and vision therapists.”

Kathy L. Shamblin, O.D., FCOVD

“As a new VT practitioner, I feel this course was absolutely phenomenal!!  I know it was well worth the expense for not only for me, but to have the opportunity for my therapist to attend with me.  I really have benefited
from the courses, especially from the Strabismus/Amblyopia weekend.  It is presented in a way that is the easier to understand than any other course I have ever been to.  I would say this is a “must have” series” for every OD and vision therapist”

Angela R. Gulbranson, O.D.

“As a newer therapist learning VT procedures I have been taught the “how” to do the procedure.  Through Dr. Sanet’s courses I have been experiencing the “why” of each procedure.  Parents want to know “why,” patients want to know “why,”—I now am much more comfortable when explaining the “why.”  Dr. Sanet teaches both therapists and doctors in a way that both benefit and come away with a much higher level of understanding.  He continually checks for understanding and answers all questions with enthusiasm.  Dr. Sanet does not rest until we all understand the concepts.”

COMMENTS FROM THE 2006 SAN DIEGO SEMINAR SERIES ATTENDEES

“These seminars have done so much for me personally and professionally that I do not know where to begin.
When I entered the seminar, I had a 20 patients in vision therapy…I thought that I was doing great. Now, after
just the fourth seminar, we have 71 patients currently enrolled in vision therapy.

I have been in practice for 3 years and started a private practice cold over 2 years ago.  Being a new practitioner, it is difficult to know how to manage and grow a practice.  The first seminar was many things to me.   It was an excellent overview of the “whys” of vision therapy, the neurology of the system and the necessary background we need to know to truly understand what we are doing in the therapy room.  It was also a great practice management and practice growing seminar.  I literally did everything that Dr. Sanet said exactly as he did it, including the letters, reports, increasing fees, etc…!  I doubled my patients within 30 days of returning from the first seminar.

I had 2 vision therapist attend the seminars with me.  The skill and motivation of both therapists has amplified since the seminars.  We have successful happy patients, a better compliance rate, and therapists that are excellent at what they do.  As a team, we are more confident performing any vision therapy activity.  I will definitely send my new therapists to this seminar, it is a now a required prerequisite to work in our clinic.

This seminar has helped me to understand the power of vision therapy and how we can help to change someone’s life.  We open doors for people and we can give them a new path in life!

These seminars are for anyone who is interested in vision therapy.  It will definitely change the way you do therapy! It will help make you more confident and successful in the therapy that you provide.  I highly recommend these seminars for anyone interested in vision therapy.”

Sandy Johal, OD, FCOVD   Surry, British Columbia

“Looking back on the 20 years of building my practice I realize the challenges of building a vision therapy practice within a primary care practice.

Having completed a vision therapy residency fresh out of optometry school, I felt secure with my clinical abilities for handling most vision problems. However, my greatest personal challenge to building a vision therapy practice was effective patient/parent communications and the management aspects of facilitating vision therapy within a primary care practice.

The Sanet Seminars offered not only an organized approach to implementing vision therapy, but also an important philosophical approach to providing effective vision therapy by properly engaging the patient at critical levels of thinking. Bob freely shares his numerous clinical and practice management pearls that can only come from years of first hand experience with patients in the therapy room. I found it amazing that he was able to fully engage all of the attendees with an assortment of backgrounds, from beginning therapists to veteran VT doctors with years of experience during his seminars. The seminar was truly a rich learning experience for all who attended regardless of their level of knowledge or prior experience in vision therapy.

Having completed the seminar series, I feel that I now have a stronger base and clearer model of vision in my mind. I have learned how to better implement the business aspects of vision therapy within my primary care practice. I have a better sense and organization on how to train my therapist so they can be more effective in helping our patients become more successful in therapy. We have better tools and methods to probe and train our behavioral vision cases. Most importantly, I feel more confident in communicating to the parents of my young patients of the necessity and benefits that vision therapy will provide to their child not only in the short term, but also for the rest of their lives.

If you want to improve how you do vision therapy, if you would like to be more successful with your cases, if you feel you’re lacking something and it’s keeping you from growing your vision therapy practice, or if you feel you need to improve your ability to communicate to convert prospects into patients, you need to attend this seminar.
Regardless of your level of knowledge, Dr Sanet will get you to understand, learn something new, and help you provide powerful vision therapy!”

Albert Chun, O.D., F.C.O.V.D.  Torrance, CA
“One of the most wonderful attributes of being a vision therapist is the constant evolution of knowledge in the dynamics of the vision system. To stay in the forefront of our profession, we have to be willing to be open to new information, scientific discoveries and new insights into vision therapy procedures.

Even though I have been a vision therapist for over 24 years, Dr. Sanet’s seminars have been invaluable to my growth. He has helped me understand the physiology and anatomy of the vision process so that I can explain it to others. He has helped me become more organized in my thinking. He has helped our vision therapy become more successful because we now look at a technique as a means to help the patient to a higher level of thinking so they don’t do things as usual. And he has helped us organize our training of new vision therapists.

Dr. Sanet’s seminars impart the latest information and scientific research. His greatest gift is being able to explain things so they are understandable and usable. He just doesn’t demonstrate a technique you have used many times before, but he leads you through his thinking and the progression he would take with the patient. His approach to vision therapy is very unique and special and can only be demonstrated by him. You leave each seminar inspired and excited for the next one.

I not only recommend Dr. Sanet’s seminars but I urge all levels of vision therapists and doctors to attend. I believe our profession would benefit greatly if we were all on the same page.”

“In 1982 I was a new graduate from the college of Optometry at The Ohio State University.  I was also a new bride to another OSU optometry graduate.  We had found a private practice for sale in Murray Utah; we were moving west with the dreams of a new life.  I was to start and expand the pediatric – vision therapy practice and my O.D. spouse was to expand the contact lens end of the practice.  Those visions lasted 9 months.  I had zero success and found I was unprepared.  The sale fell through and we moved on with our lives. Dreams evaporated; life changed, we divorced and I became bored with Optometry. There has to be more to life that which is better one or two.

I found a practice to buy with a vision therapy component.  It is the correct location and the correct price range.  I can grow it into a solution for my impending empty nest.  Included in the purchase was a series of classes from Bob Sanet, as I would be doing the future vision therapy.  When the student is ready the teacher appears.  This IS right for me to do. I missed the first class in Jan.  Things were not far enough in the sale process.

March class of Dr. Sanet’s was overwhelming with information.   I’m totally overwhelmed with the vision therapy and the idea of a new practice.  Great information I see how much of this applies from 20+ years of general practice, those far off visual science classes and bewildering orthoptics classes.

May class was emphasizing visual processing and dysfunction.  So much information –so many people I know that would benefit from this.  Me, my children oh yes patients too.  This is where vision therapy interest is coming from – personal short comings and the desire to improve the lot in life for my daughter.  Maybe on the late side for her but knowledge is useful.  This class has hit hard on my need to improve the “rules” of my vision therapy practice.

The class is fabulous!

Thank you, Bob for my initial introduction to vision therapy.”

Tina C. Martin, O.D.  Sandy, UT

“When I graduated last year from Optometry school, I thought I had enough tools already to specialize in vision therapy.  I had been to one COVD conference and had interned at a wonderful vision therapy practice during my forth year of school.  However, I soon realized that I was lacking in many areas.  Fortunately, I attended your pre-conference seminar at COVD 2005 and you spoke with me about your upcoming seminars in San Diego.  As a new graduate, the price of the seminar was daunting, but I felt sure that I needed to make it happen.

The first seminar in the series alone was worth the cost, because you can’t get very far in vision therapy if you don’t know how to evaluate patients and discuss vision therapy with them.  In particular, I appreciated the tips about speaking to the parents throughout the exam and relate findings to their child’s symptoms.  It took some practice, but I found just trying a few new things at a time gave me the confidence to speak more openly with the patients and parents.

After the first seminar, I made a goal to double my number of patients in therapy between each seminar.  That seemed fairly do-able since I had two patients in therapy at the first seminar.  By the second, I had four and by the third I had eight.  Some patients graduated, and I believe I had ten at the forth seminar.

I am thrilled with the amount of confidence that I have gained from your seminars.  Not only am I able to bring
patients into therapy, but I also have a good idea of how to improve their visual abilities.  I particularly am thankful for the extra time that you have given to speak about primitive reflexes.

I am thankful also for the other attendees of the seminar.  We have made our own little family during the year,
spending so much time together but also sharing ideas and questions over e-mail in between seminars.

As a new graduate, I would recommend to others to not let the cost be a barrier because the information gained
from attending these seminars is truly priceless. “

With gratitude,

Joanna Carter, O.D.

“When I started this vision therapy thing a year ago I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I had been a professional athlete for the last 10 years. I knew what it meant to work hard and be rewarded for it. I had done well at Olympic Games and World championships. I was looking for something that would bring me the same kind of challenge and instant gratification in my next career.

What I found was Vision therapy; it was better than what I had hoped for. The beginning was hard because everything about it was completely new to me. It was easy to get the terminology down but I still didn’t understand why I was doing the procedures. I felt extremely uncomfortable talking to patients and parents about VT. I was always worried that they would ask me questions that I couldn’t answer. I had so many questions myself.

Dr. Sanet’s willingness to share everything with us gave me great comfort and hope. Since starting Dr. Sanet’s seminar series everything started falling into place. Dr. Sanet teaches in a way that even the hardest concepts make sense. We didn’t just learn a bunch of procedures and fancy names. We learned the idea behind every procedure. We learned 40 years of knowledge in 5 seminars. It isn’t just about the procedure. It is about the thought behind it all. I feel extremely good about what I am doing now because I understand why I do it.

Talking to parents is something I no longer dread instead I look forward to it. I know now that I can do a great job and help many children and I have the success stories to proof it. My life has changed from focusing on me and my great victories. They were only trophies that collect dust now. My new victories are therapy patients. They will not sit around and collect dust. They will not be forced into certain choices because of their limited visual skills. They can be and do anything they want to. My new gift is to touch the lives of others.

Signing up for Dr. Sanet’s seminar series is the smartest thing somebody new to vision therapy can do. Dr. Sanet has the gift of explaining the most complicated material in an easily understandable and compassionate way. When I started the first seminar I hardly knew anything about vision therapy. Now I have a very good understanding of vision therapy, but more importantly I understand the scientific thought process behind vision therapy. My life has changed from being lost and helpless to a confident vision therapist that will never stop learning.

And by the way our office went from 9 patients a week to 25 patients since the start of the seminars.”

Thank you, coach,
Ursula Smith, Vision Therapist  Evergreen, CO

“Bob is an engaging and fascinating speaker. Having a residency in vision therapy, and having just completed my fellowship in COVD, I thought I had mastered the "basics". Bob opened up a new world and a new way of thinking. I have completely revamped and changed my modality of practice - for the better.  Thank you for changing my life and the lives of my patients.”
Dawn Dunsford, OD, FCOVD  Stonewall, Canada

“As an optometrist who has recently started a part time (one afternoon/week) vision therapy practice, I have
found Dr. Sanet's Vision Therapy Course to be invaluable. Last week I graduated my first unqualified
success. She is a thirteen year old girl who has been struggling with reading for several years. After vision therapy she can read comfortably for long periods of time, copy notes from the board quickly and accurately, and gets her homework done. She also notices that her ping pong playing has improved so dramatically that she can almost beat her older brother. (Before VT, she was barely able to return a shot.)

Dr. Sanet's course provided the knowledge and techniques to help this young lady.  And more importantly, it gave me the confidence that I could be successful with my treatment programs.

I would highly recommend this course to anyone starting out in Vision Therapy. You will gain the advantage of years of wisdom packaged in a format that can be immediately implemented.  I have attended hundreds of hours of continuing education in my more than 20 years of Optometric practice. Without a doubt Dr. Sanet’s course is the very best course I have ever attended.”

Sincerely,

William Harpur, O.D.

“When asked what I wanted to gain from Dr. Sanet’s seminars, I said that I wanted to find a way to explain Vision Therapy to the patients and the families so that it made sense and would increase their commitment.  I got so much more than what I bargained for.

Now VT makes more sense to me and has increased my commitment to VT. I have only been doing VT for a year and spent so much of the time concentrating on doing the activities correctly.

My entire thinking has changed and I am a much better therapist.  Dr. Sanet has made me realize that therapy is different for each individual and that there is no textbook way to help people reach their goals. I  now get  much better cooperation from the kids and we are seeing great results.

Every time I attend a seminar I return rejuvenated and ready to take on the world.  I am always more in tuned to my patients’ needs and more prepared to offer them the best therapy that I can give.   My new approach to VT:  What would Bob do?  How can I get this patient to give me their all  and have them feel great about  themselves?  How can I make this patient feel more confident while improving their vision?  What can I learn from this experience?  Now, everyday is a wonderful new challenge.

Dr. Sanet has helped me grow as a therapist and as a person.  I am a more compassionate and understanding person in general.  I appreciate all the work that he has done and how he has given himself so wholly to the cause.  Dr. Sanet has really no idea how many lives he has touched.  He is a truly generous man who is not afraid to freely share his knowledge.”

Cecelia Drake, OVT Austin, TX

“I started the Sanet seminar frustrated with my situation as an independent contractor within a general OD office. During the first course, I developed the confidence to make the move towards starting my own primary care/vision therapy practice.  I knew that I wanted to continue my journey with helping children and providing the best care possible, but was afraid and discouraged until Dr. Sanet’s class. After the first weekend, it was just not an option to continue on my same path.  Dr. Sanet and the other doctors and therapists in the course were supportive and encouraging. Five months into the Sanet series I owned by own practice and was up and running!

The tools and resources gained during this class have changed the way I treat patients on a daily basis. I am providing better care and have been more successful in communicating the power of vision therapy to referral sources. My vision therapist has also benefited greatly from the course and now has a network of peers to share ideas with and learn from. The course has been a monumental in defining and discovering my potential for professional and personal success. This series of courses has changed my life.
Every experienced VT-OD and every aspiring VT-OD should take this course!!”

Jill Hadler, OD.  Wayzata, MN

“Dr. Sanet’s vision therapy seminars have been very worthwhile.  Even as an optometrist who has been in the field for fifteen years, I received a clearer understanding of vision and ways to help my patients.  He presents a solid foundation in an organized way and delivers so much more than promised.
The seminars have helped me communicate better with my patients and I was able to implement changes in my practice immediately after the first seminar.  My only regret is that the seminars have an end.”
Lynette Kline, O.D. Fort Bragg, CA.

“As an optometrist new to vision therapy, two words come to mind when  thinking about Dr. Sanet’s five part series “Powerful Vision Therapy”:  Life  Changing!

My wife (also an optometrist) and I opened a vision therapy clinic “cold” together 6 months ago.  Dr. Sanet’s course has given us the knowledge, skills, and confidence to be successful with our patients and with our practice.  We have run our entire vision therapy program according to his teachings, we went from zero people in VT to now having 15 and the office has financially “broken even” 4 out of the first 6 months of being open as a result.  I found the course to be so helpful, that my wife plans to attend the course for herself next year and I would like to join her in taking the course for a second time.

Thank you, Dr. Sanet, for being willing to share your skills and expertise so graciously with us.  We will forever be grateful.”

Sincerely,
Phil and Shannon Mattson Gardendale,
AL

My background in taking this course includes being a classroom teacher specializing in reading and
language for grades K to 3rd for 26 years.  I have a master's in Early Childhood Development and have been a vision therapist for 3 years.

For a new therapist Dr. Sanet's course introduces vision therapy as it applies to real life with real people.  From the beginning the course is on what you are doing to help the child in front of you.  With a clear understanding of what you are doing there is a tremendous amount of freedom to choose those procedures that relate to that child.  The organization and presentation of the material allows the therapist to provide therapy on an individual basis (no cookie cutter approach).  This was by far the most organized, easiest to understand presentation of therapy procedures that I have ever heard.

I was not new to vision therapy having referred children for services with a vision therapist for 13 years.  I also had practical knowledge of visual perceptual skills and there correct development.  This course was great in allowing me to organize the information I already had in the framework of vision therapy.

The course focuses the importance of your vision therapy to the patient.  Eye contact for social interaction, balance, visual integration with oneself, academics, sports, etc. It keeps you from just focusing on therapy skills (done in the therapy environment) and pushes the therapy to show up in the patient’s real life.

Dr. Sanet is able to answer questions with a variety of examples to help provide understanding for the various background and levels of the attendees.  He is also able to relate any and all of the materials to therapy situations and in real life situations.

Thomas Smith, Vision Therapist
Boise, ID

As a new vision therapist I was kind of nervous about attending Dr. Sanet's seminars.  I had heard amazing things about Dr. Sanet and I was excited to attend but I just felt like I might be out of place.  After the
first day of the seminar I knew that I was wrong.

Dr. Sanet has a gift for  teaching and explaining information to people at every level of experience. I learned so much from these seminars and I am so grateful that I was able to attend. Not only did I gain more tools to use in the VT room with patients, but Dr. Sanet taught me to take a better look at how my patients were responding to the different therapy activities.

Attending these seminars change the way I think about patients and vision therapy in a very powerful way.  Thank you Dr. Sanet!!

Sincerely,
Mary Troyer, Vision Therapist,
San Diego, CA

When I signed up for this course at last year's COVD meeting, I underestimated the impact the five sessions would have on my career path and me.  I knew the seminars would be highly educational since Dr. Sanet is a well-respected VT guru.  However, what I didn't expect was the magnitude of confidence and passion this course would bestow upon me for vision therapy and for my desire to make a difference in people's lives through it.

Taking this course has helped me in two ways.  In one office where I already do therapy, I am doing more affective therapy and enjoying it more than ever.  In another office, I work for a Pediatric Ophthalmologist who believed throughout her career that "vision therapy does not work".  Since attending Dr. Sanet's courses, I've shared with her my love and excitement for VT and as a result, we have a vision therapy practice that is up and running since July of this year!

The seminars were held in
San Diego which made my commute from Los Angeles extremely convenient.  However, even if the courses were held on the other end of the country, I would fly there in a heartbeat.

Joanne Myung, OD Los Angeles, CA

After 14 years in a primary care practice, I decided that I wanted to get into vision therapy.  I signed up for Dr. Sanet’s Seminar Series on the advice of a friend who has a very successful VT practice.  It was the best investment I ever made!  I am now able to provide my patients with therapy that is based on the latest research in neurology and vision.

Don’t try to start a career in vision therapy without first taking this course!  Believe me, it is money well spent!

Lori Nishida- Eugenio, OD. Burbank, CA

If you get the opportunity to enroll in Bob’s seminar, do not let it pass you by. Before even attending the seminar, we already used a lot of the same activities as Bob did. So when I got to the seminar I thought that it would be a review of everything that I already knew. Let’s just say that it was anything but a review! Instead I ended up learning numerous ways of doing all the activities. I never knew that there were so many ways of doing vectograms! Bob’s seminar really opened my eyes and it encouraged me to want to work even harder with the patients that I come into contact with.

Bob is an amazing individual. I have never met anyone so passionate about vision therapy. After spending even a few minutes in the seminar, this feeling becomes contagious. Bob is absolutely the best man for the job. He is so caring about his students and wants them to get the most out of the seminar. This seminar is not just for individuals who are starting out in vision therapy, but also for those who have been in the field for quite some time. I have been a vision therapist for over a year and a half and I learned a ton of things.
Bob you have changed the way that I do therapy and I am so grateful for having the opportunity to take part in your seminar. Thanks for everything Bob!

Sincerely,
Shubneek Dhahan, Vision Therapist Surry, British Columbia

I struggle to put into words how extremely grateful I am to you. These seminars have made a profound impact on my life. I now see the world and people through new eyes.

I have learned so much . My approach to vision therapy and my patients has been radically altered.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom so generously.  I feel privileged to have you as my teacher.

You have also been instrumental in the success of my new practice. I opened cold just 4 months ago and I already have 10 patients in VT!

Respectfully.
Katie Kimble Wonch, OD  Mandeville, LA
